Actually that is something I was thinking about the other day. I know ACDSee (and several others) pre-decode the next image (and the previous if not already done) when you view something, in order to make looking through a collection in a linear way faster.
Is this something Daminion is doing already? I am guessing not because I get the "rendering..." line every time I move one image forward. If not, perhaps that is an idea for future improvement. -

Ah, so what you want is to have the thumbnails grouped by folder, with a heading each? That does look quite nice.
You can set the sorting order for the thumbnail view to sort by folder (Sort By->Advanced->General->Folder), but it does not give you a heading for each folder. You can still see what folder an image belongs to by selecting it of course, since that now colors the folder in the Catalog Tags pane.
The grouping and heading looks like a nice option, but I think it should be optional, since you might not want this grouping. It could be that you just want to collect images from multiple folders and sort them on other criteria across the board. -

I was just thinking the same while trying it out.
Also, if you happen to rescan one of these "ghost folders", the scan hangs, Daminion shows all files as synced, and you get an error message saying there are unfinished jobs when you close the program. -

But this will reduce the space taken by thumbnails a bit. Any ideas are welcome!
I agree, that is a lot of vertical screen space to waste. Maybe a small tooltip for the elements with a * next to them?
Murat Korkmazov, on 14 June 2012 - 02:52 PM, said:Unfortunately the AND/OR conditions are belong to All the query members within a certain Tag. So we can't tie AND/OR appearance in accordance of how a new condition will be added, with Red or Green mark. Because this might change all the AND/OR conditions in our query.
Ah! that is rather surprising. Is there any technical limitation in the database that means you cannot mix conditions?
Btw, if you select multiple folders by ctrl-clicking them with the OR operator active, and then go over to one of the OR in the bar above the thumbnails and click it to change it to AND, and click it again and change it back to OR, it does not update the search but stays empty (like AND).
And a minor GUI glitch -- not sure if this is something in your software or in the underlying framework, but if you open a menu, move the mouse down it until a submenu pops up, move the mouse right until you are below the next menu, and then straight up onto that next menus title, it does not (always) open. See the attached video for an example.

I also attached a recording of the GUI glitch in the properties I have mentioned a couple of times before. If you have images with a different number of image properties, and you view them full screen, switch between them, and then close full screen view, then part of the controls in the Description section of the Properties pane do not move up/down with the rest, resulting in a garbled view until you click another image to update it.

This is one of the things I like about Daminion as well -- it seems to focus on doing what it is supposed to be doing.
