Annotate by Tags

A user can create and assign multiple tags by separating them by commas. During creation tags can be assigned to the selected files.


Annotate in the Properties Panel

Daminion uses the properties panel to provide you with an easy access to the properties and metadata of your media. You can assign annotations to single or multiple media items.

  1. Choose the items you wish to annotate, and do one of the following: In the Properties panel, choose Description tab.
  2. Type the information in the respective field such as Title, Description, Date Created, Keywords, or Categories
  3. Click the Save Changes icon 42.png at the bottom of the properties panel to confirm changes or the Undo icon 43.png to discard changes.
  4. You can apply annotations to multiple items by following the above steps
  5. You can also add multiple tag values by separating them by a comma. To specify tag’s hierarchy use the backslash (“\”). For example: “animals\pet\dogs\alder”

Rating Media

Tags are the easy way to classify and locate your media files. Multiple tags can be assigned to a single file without taking up additional space on your hard drive. All the information about a file can be described by a set of tags.

About Color Labels

Color labels enable you to classify and identify your media file in the catalogs. Once you label your items, you can easily sort the catalog using the labels in the Catalog Tags section.

Label options

Daminion allows you to customize the colors and labels from the global preferences. These preferences are applicable to the current open catalog. For example, you can assign “Rejected” label for Red color label and “Approved” for green color label. Moreover, this naming convention will work for each catalog and for newly created ones as well.

On the Edit menu, point to Preferences, and then click Labels and Colors.

  1. Click the color underLabelthat you want to change.
  2. Right click for the Shortcut menu and choose Rename to type a new name. You may also press F2 as an alternative.
