Daminion has an easy-to-use, flexible, and customizable interface that makes cataloging easy for you. Within this interface, you can view, organize and export media files and documents.

Customizing the Interface

Drag and Drop
Daminion has customizable interface, which makes cataloging easy. Daminion has flexible panels, which can be easily dragged and dropped. You can use the mouse to drag and drop the panels to a location of your choice.

Multiple monitor support
With Damnion, you can rearrange the panels so that they can fit anywhere on your computer screen. You can also benefit from this feature if you want to work on multiple monitors. To do this, simply drag a panel and drop it to the appropriate place on the screen

Customizing Catalog Tags Panel

Daminion has a fully customizable Catalog Tags Panel. To customize the Catalog Tags panel:

  1. Click Star.png on the top of the Catalog Tags panel
  2. Choose Customize to open the customize option box
  3. You can click Box.png to choose among the options, which you want to be displayed in the panel


Customizing Properties Panel

The Properties panel displays the information associated to a media file. Daminion has a fully customizable Properties Panel. To customize the Catalog Tags panel:

  1. Click Star.png on the top of the Properties panel
  2. Choose Customize to open the customize option box
  3. You can click Box.png to choose among the options, which you want to be displayed in the panel

Click Import.png to add media to the current selected catalog

Show All Function

The Show All Home.png function displays all the media present in the catalog. If you have applied filters in a catalog, click Show All in the top toolbar to display all the media present irrespective of the filter.
Refresh Function

The refresh function is used to repeat the current search query. This function will repeat all the appended conditions used in a search criteria.

To use this function, click after you have performed a search function.
Search Function

You can search catalogs quickly using the Search Function in Daminion. Use the search box Serch.png to perform a search directly from the active catalog. You can also click the advanced button for detailed search. The search function is not case sensitive and includes catalog set names, media fields, and annotations. You can search using options including all media, System, General, Image, Description, and Music.

To quickly perform a search, type the words in the search box in the top toolbar and press enter or click the search icon 15.png

The Sort Function
The Sort Function enables you to sort the media according to different variables.
To sort files according to attributes

  1. On the bottom toolbar, click the Sort button.
  2. Choose the appropriate attribute to sort the media items
  3. Click No Sorting to return to the default sort order
  4. Choose Attributes from Advanced for more discrete sorting variables.

Changing the displayed Tags
Daminion enables you to change the displayed tags by clicking the 18.png button. To change the displayed tags, follow these steps –

  1. Click the 18.png button. You will see the Edit Captions dialog box.
  2. Move the tags up or down according to your priority by clicking or
  3. You can add more tags by clicking Add or delete the existing by clicking Delete
  4. Once you are done press Ok. The media will be arranged in accordance to the priority of tags you selected.

Thumbnail View Function

The Thumbnail view displays the catalog as a table of thumbnail images in customizable sizes. From the bottom toolbar, click the 20.png button to select this view. On selecting an item in the table, you will get information such as the file size, the dimensions of the media file, and the full name of the media file.

Details View Function

In the List view of a catalog, your media appears in well-organized rows. These rows contain information you choose, such as file size, media format, rating, label, width, height, and much more.
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, click the button.

FilmStrip View Function

This view displays media files in the form of a filmstrip. You can view your media files in a single row. Unlike other views, this view does not show any information about the media file.
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, click the 23.png button.

Properties Tags Panel

The Properties Tags panel provides a detailed-level description of your media files. While some of the variables in this panel can be edited, most of them are read-only.

Thumbnail Browser

The Thumbnail Browser displays your media as resizable thumbnails with information such as file size, file dimension, and file name. You can change Rating and Color Label by mouse, and mark them to add to the Tray.

Show/Hide Thumbnail Captions

Daminion gives you the flexibility to show or hide the thumbnail captions in the interface. To show/ hide thumbnail captions, simply click the button.

Customizing number of thumbnails

With Daminion, you can customize the total number of thumbnails being displayed in the catalog. To do this, drag the slider in the action menu. The slider can be dragged up or down to increase or decrease the number of thumbnails viewable simultaneously.

Tray

The tray contains the media assets that you wish to separate from the other media files in the catalog.It allows you to quickly collect assets and perform different functions.

To add media files in the tray, follow these steps –

  1. Select a media file or multiple files and click 28.png button. This will change to 29.png button. If multiple media files are selected, you can click on a single button to add all of them to the tray.
  2. Alternatively, you can press INS button to add files to the tray. You can also press right click on the media file(s) and select Add/Remove to Tray.
  3. Once the selected media files are in the tray, you can perform various functions using the right mouse click.
