Daminion has different view modes that makes cataloging organized, fun, and easy.

View Modes

Thumbnail View Function
The Thumbnail view displays the catalog as a table of thumbnail images in customizable sizes. From the View menu, select View Mode and Thumbnails to select this view. On selecting an item in the table, you will get information such as the file size, the dimensions of the media file, and the full name of the media file.

Details View
In the List view of a catalog, your media appears in well-organized rows. These rows contain information you choose, such as file size, media format, rating, label, width, height, and much more.
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Details.

FilmStrip View
This view displays media files in the form of a filmstrip. You can view your media files in a single row. Unlike other views, this view does not show any information about the media file.
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Filmstrip.

Thumbnails (Preview on the Left) View
This option displays the catalog as a table of thumbnail images in customizable sizes on the right side of the Thumbnail browser along with the preview on the left side. You will be able to view the options related to the media file(s) such as media file name, ratings color tags, etc. on the top of the browser. You can also choose the size of the media preview by clicking the appropriate options in tab
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Thumbnails (Preview on the Left).

Thumbnails (Preview on the Right) View
This option displays the catalog as a table of thumbnail images in customizable sizes on the left side of the Thumbnail browser along with the preview on the right side. You will be able to view the options related to the media file(s) such as media file name, ratings color tags, etc. on the top of the browser. You can also choose the size of the media preview by clicking the appropriate options in 100 % tab.

To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Thumbnails (Preview on the Right).

Details (Preview on the Top) View
In the List view of a catalog, your media appears in well-organized rows on the bottom of the thumbnail browser. These rows contain information you choose, such as file size, media format, rating, label, width, height, and much more. You can also click the appropriate media file to preview it on the top corner of the browser.

To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Details (Preview on the Top).

In the Preview Only view of a catalog, your media appears as a preview only image in the thumbnail browser. You can also view information about the media such as the file size, media format, rating, label, width, height, and much more at the top of the browser
To select this view from the bottom toolbar, from the View menu, select View Mode and Preview Only.


Compare Items

The compare Items feature is used to compare media file previews. This works for image formats only. For other formats (video, pdf, etc) Daminion will compares the preview of the first pages only.

The compare Items option can be used if multiple items (Ideally, 2-4 at a minimum) are selected. Follow these steps to use this option –

  • Navigate to the Item menu. Alternatively, you can right click to invoke the context menu
  • Navigate to the compare items option
