Initial setup
Before Daminion: A Folder Structure That Couldn’t Scale
Before implementing Daminion, Enstrom didn’t have a DAM system. All files lived on the company’s own servers in a folder-based structure, spread across multiple locations.
With a single in-house designer, folders were enough. But in 2018, as Enstrom expanded its design team, the time spent sifting through folders quickly added up. Designers also had to deal with multiple edited versions of the same file, and when an image couldn’t be found, it was often re-edited from scratch.
The team started looking for a locally hosted solution that would bring its growing photo inventory into one searchable place.

We’ve had a large inventory of photos that we stored in folders and it was impossible to navigate when we expanded our in-house team of designers. We needed a solution which would help us find the right files quickly and efficiently.

How Daminion Helped
Daminion gave Enstrom a centralized repository running on its own infrastructure, where every asset can be organized by project and category.
The creative team now uses tags, metadata, and categories by project and photo type to structure the library. Instead of browsing folders manually, designers search by these attributes and quickly find the images they need.

Previously we’ve had multiple versions of the same file edited lots of times. With Daminion we’re able to have all versions in one place, so we don’t have to re-edit images which we can’t find. This saves us a lot of time.
