Daminion has built-in integrations with a range of external systems. Besides this, it can be also integrated with virtually any system via Daminion API, Export SDK, or XMP metadata.
Built-in Daminion Integrations
There is a range of built-in integrations in Daminion, for example, an Adobe Creative Connector, Bing maps, or integration with your email systems. Below is the list of the built-in Daminion integrations.
Integrations via API
Daminion API allows you to easily integrate Daminion with your existing local and cloud solutions, like corporate CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, Dropbox, MS Office, etc.
Integration via XMP metadata
JPEG, InDesign, AI, and a lot of other media formats can store information inside the files itself as XMP metadata. This is a good way to exchange information between different systems, for example, Daminion and Adobe InDesign. With XMP, you won’t have to depend on various API versions of various other systems.
Daminion will read/write metadata in many formats including image, camera RAW, vector, video, audio, and PDF files. Various applications like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and services like Flickr, SmugMug, Facebook, can interpret the XMP data written into files by Daminion.
Open/Edit With a Content Editor
Daminion can preview 100-plus media formats. Although it doesn’t have rich editing capabilities, it can be easily configured to view or edit media files using applications that are installed on your local PC (like InDesign or Photoshop).
To open or view an original file with an external application use the “Open With” option from the context menu. If you select the “Edit With” option, the file will be “Checked Out” before it opens.
This capability works in Web client and Windows desktop client when Daminion Server version when it is installed locally.
Daminion Export SDK
Daminion Export SDK allows you to expand your Daminion export capabilities of Daminion Desktop client by writing export add-ons. The standard export features are: Export to Folder (Export > Copy to Folder) and Email (Export > Send to Email).
Daminion Add-ons can be written in any .NET compliant language, including C# or VB .NET. The target platform for the addon project must be .NET 3.5 or higher.
