About Floyd County Productions

Founded in 2009 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, Floyd County Productions is an American animation studio best known for creating the hit television series Archer — a satirical spy comedy acclaimed for its distinctive animation style and humor.

In 2021, Floyd County Productions adopted Daminion Server to serve as a central search hub for their massive archive containing millions of production files, enabling artists to quickly locate reference materials from past seasons.

Before Daminion: A Custom Tool That Became Hard to Maintain

Before switching to Daminion, the studio relied on an internally developed asset management tool designed to support its animation pipeline. While the custom system initially worked well and was popular among the artists, it required continuous maintenance and development resources to stay functional.

Over time, maintaining the tool became unsustainable. Updates slowed, usability declined, and the team faced increasing difficulties locating files efficiently across their expanding archive.

Recognizing the limitations of their internal system, Floyd County Productions decided to migrate to a dedicated Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution that could offer scalability, reliability, and powerful search capabilities.
Daminion undeniably saves a considerable amount of time. The time saved really depends on what the artists are searching for.

How Daminion Helped

Floyd County Productions primarily uses Daminion for managing assets from their flagship series, Archer. The production pipeline involves generating characters in various poses, outfits, and with specific props — a process that heavily relies on referencing previous artwork to save time and maintain visual consistency.
Using Daminion, artists can now:
Instantly locate existing character files or scene references from prior seasons

Access assets through the web client, copy them to their working folder, apply updates, and save them following the studio’s naming conventions

Upload revised assets back into their production management system, which syncs with the company’s servers

Have Daminion automatically index and make the updated files searchable for future episodes or other artists

Thanks to Floyd County Productions’ highly specific naming conventions, Daminion automatically extracts and indexes descriptive data from file and folder names — eliminating the need for manual tagging.
If it’s a niche item we’ve drawn before but can’t recall where, Daminion can save hours of drawing.

If it’s something we use frequently and just need a starting point, it can save 10 to 15 minutes.
In all cases, it’s a valuable tool.
