How does Digital Asset Management work via Daminion?
The Daminion Digital Asset Management solution is a tool that sits atop the Windows Operating System, or if you have a Mac, it can be used through a Windows emulator, such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion. The newest version of Daminion also offers a web-client, for both Mac and Windows.
Here is an overall layout of how Daminion works
From a technical point of view.
So, how exactly does this Digital Asset Management solution work?
The first thing is to download Daminion server 5.0 and have it installed on your network. The next step is to install the Desktop Client. If you have any questions or are unsure about this, please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will install it for you- remotely and quickly!
Import your files into Daminion
After this, you will have to import your files. You can do this from the web-client by dragging and dropping them directly into the interface. You can also import files at any time via the Daminion stand-alone program, as well as automating the process by connecting to Dropbox or Google Drive. You can even create a special folder, so that any new files automatically placed into it will be instantly catalogued.
Although this might seem complicated, it really isn’t! If you need help, or an online demonstration, feel free to contact us today!
After you have the software up and running on your server/client, open Daminion. On the left hand side, you will notice that there are numerous options, such as Categories, Collections, Color label, Event, and Flag. If you click on the Categories, you will notice a number of preset options, such as:
- Artists
- Copyrights
- People
- Projects
- Camera Model
- and many, many more!
Then start tagging!. After your Digital Assets have been tagged, then you are off and running. The world is your oyster and you will no longer need to spend time on the old search function through Windows!
