Investigating old photographic equipment is always fascinating, and it becomes even more so when you attempt to use it in conjunction with the equipment of today.
Jason Bognacki wondered what might happen if he took photos with his old Piccolette Contessa-Nettel (circa 1926)camera, but using a modern Canon 5D Mark II camera as the sensor.
He attached the old camera, as a lens, to his new Canon. Although the unlikely union looks somewhat strange – comical even – the resulting photos are pretty impressive.
The Piccolette’s lens (a Zeiss Ikon 7.5cm f6.3 – when fully open) was manufactured 93 years ago, but it still produces very sharp pictures, as you can see from the examples below.
