Daminion 6.8 was unveiled with a few handy features, including improved document searching capabilities: PDF, PowerPoint, and Word.
5 major improvements
1. Daminion can now perform text search within documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX)
2. Quality thumbnails are now generated for PPTX and DOCX formats in addition to other 100+ formats
3. Added the ability to share presets for Tags and Properties panels in Daminion desktop
4. Improved import speed for large PNG images and JPEG2000 formats
5. Added PSD 32-bit format support
Additionally, we have also worked on a range of minor improvements and some bug fixes.
Minor Improvements
- Added the ability to accelerate the previews of Jpeg2000 files
- Optimized map engine for the web client with many pins – now it does not slow down the software
- Added the ability to search by AI labels via ‘Quick Search’ and ‘Advanced Search’ in the desktop client
- Added the ability to search by AI labels in ‘Everywhere’ in the web client
- The forward and backward navigation on the timeline of the video in the web client has become smoother now
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the bug with the pop-up hints in the ‘Place’ tag in the web client
- Fixed the bug when ‘Show All Items’ did not display all items in the catalog
- Fixed the bug with embedding metadata to PDF. Please turn on the option ‘Alternative XMP’ updating method (not recommended, slow) via Daminion server administration panel > ‘Administration’ > ‘Preferences’ > ‘Writing Metadata’. Once activated, metadata will be written to the XMP metadata section
- Fixed the bug with rendering of large PSD and PNG files
- Fixed the bug when the tag presets in the ‘Tags’ and ‘Properties’ panel were removed (for an admin user) after using the option ‘Default View Settings’
- Fixed the bug when automatic tag suggestions did not work for the ‘Location’ level of the ‘Place’ tag in the web client
- Fixed the bug when unsynced tags were removed from the file when checking the file in (‘Version Control’ feature)
- Fixed the bug when the expanded ‘Folders’ tag collapsed when creating a shared collection in the web client
- Fixed the bug with a dropdown list in the search bar in German
- Fixed the bug with tagging in the ‘Tag Editor’ and ‘Properties’ panel when spaces in the dropdown lists separated suggested symbols of the typed-in words
- Fixed the bug when a comma in the existing tag value was used to separate a single tag value into multiple tag values when assigning tags via the ‘Properties’ panel and the ‘Tag Editor’ in the web client
- Fixed the bug when the text after a comma in the ‘Place’ tag was truncated when assigning tags via the ‘Properties’ panel and the ‘Tag Editor’ in the web client
- Fixed the bug when the thumbnails area was not loading if the expiration date was removed from the files
- Fixed the bug when the previews of SVG, DWG, Docx and AI file formats were not displaying in the gallery of the web client’s full-screen view
- Fixed the bug when the parent tag was not displayed when hovering over the tag value in the ‘Tag Editor’ and the ‘Properties’ panel in the web client
- Fixed the bug when ‘Focal Length’ was not available on the list in the ‘Tags’ panel
- Fixed the bug when the entered tag values of the custom integer indexed tags reverted to 0 in the ‘Advanced Search’
- Fixed the bug with handling the group tags in ‘Authors’ (forum post)
- Fixed the bug when an error message “Input string was not in a correct format” was displayed when importing a CSV file with an empty ‘Rating’ tag
- Fixed the bug when the ‘Next File’ button overlapped the progress bar of the video file in full-screen mode in the web client
- Fixed the bug with filling-in the ‘Place’ tag in the ‘Required Metadata’: the filled-in ‘Place’ tag of one file was automatically copied over to all the files in the ‘Required Metadata’ area
- Fixed the bug when the ‘Date’ folder was not created for the files imported from Dropbox and they were placed in the ‘Month’ folder instead
